Introduction

By the end of season 2005-06, it became apparent that the AUFC Supporters' Club had become somewhat defunct and was existing largely in name only. At about that time, Ken Lee, who had been the mainstay of the Supporters' Club, announced his intention to retire from running the souvenir shop at the ground and also that he would cease running the popular monthly football pontoon. Recognising the vacuum that this would create, a small group of like-minded enthusiasts met for the first time in July 2006 to see what might be done in re-creating the Supporters' Club under a new regime. Regular monthly meetings were held and it became clear that there was sufficient interest amongst these supporters to take the group forward and become better structured. At the meeting held on Monday 4th October 2006, Trevor Rowley was elected Chairman of the Supporters' Club, David Hills-Taylor was elected Vice Chairman & Secretary, Ian Taylor was elected Treasurer and David Aspinall and David Baxendale were appointed jointly as personnel to manage the souvenir shop. It was agreed that there would be a membership fee for each season with a reduced fee for 16 and under and the over 60s. It was further agreed that there would be a 5% discount for members purchasing in the souvenir shop. 

It goes without saying that, as supporters of the football club, we want the best for the club both on the field, where we will encourage progress in the football pyramid, and off the field, where we will endeavour to support the parent club in maintaining its stability and security.
