Ian’s Ashton career was put on hold after an off-field accident put him out of action for the first third of the 2006-07 season. 

The former City youngster showed all the signs he was adapting well to UniBond football by the end of the season and was a regular in the team at full back or central midfield.

In 2007/08 he added goals to his all-round game including a crucial last minute strike to secure a 3-2 away win at Whitby Town. After an excellent season at the heart of Ashton's midfield, he was deservedly voted supporters' player of the year.

Ian reached a personal milestone in 2009 when he made his 100th appearance for the club. A great servant to Ashton United FC, he has now signed on for what will be his fourth season as a Robin.
