Former Bury trainee Alex joined Ashton in the summer of 2008. He spent the previous three years studying a Sports Performance degree at Bath University and played for Team Bath in the Southern Premier League.

Alex became an integral part of Danny Johnson's team during his first season, showing his quality when asked to play as either a full-back or centre-half when needed.
